Submissions What Books Press accepts full-length manuscripts across genres, including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, translation, and hybrid works, and is particularly interested in writing that experiments with literary form, demonstrates strong attention to language, and engages compellingly with the human condition and its historical moment. All titles feature cover art by the artist Gronk Nicandro. Accepted works from this submission period will be published in October 2027.
Submissions are accepted on our Submittable page during our annual reading period, January 1 through April 30. A submission fee is required. What Books Press does not charge authors any fees for publication. This is an open call for unsolicited, full-length manuscripts. Full submission guidelines and current submission links are available on our website. Whether our submission period is open right now or not, be sure to click the catalogue button on the left and go through our list in order to fine-tune your understanding of what kinds of books we publish. If you feel your work is a good fit, we look forward to reading it. |
