RAMON GARCIAWHAT BOOKS PRESS TITLE:
Other Countries RAMÓN GARCÍA was born in Colima and grew-up in Modesto, California. He has a B.A. in Spanish Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Master's and Ph.D. in Literature from the University of California, San Diego.
He has published poetry in a variety of journals and anthologies including The Americas Review, Best American Poetry 1996, Ambit (UK), Poesida: AIDS Poetry from Latin America, the United States and Spain, New Chicano Writing #1, The Paterson Literary Review, Urban Latino Cultures, California Dreams and Realities and The Floating Borderlands: Twenty-Five Years of U.S.-Hispanic Literature, Margie: The American Journal of Poetry, Crab Orchard Review, Poetry Salzburg Review (Austria), Borderland: The Texas Poetry Review, The Los Angeles Review and Mandorla: New Writing from the Americas. His short fiction publications include Story, Virgins, Guerrillas and Locas: Gay Latinos Writing About Love and Harrington's Gay Men's Fiction Quarterly. He was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts residency fellowship from the MacDowell Colony and fellowships from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and the Ragdale Foundation. He is a recipient of a research grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and pre-doctoral fellowships from the Humanities Research Institute at the University of California, Irvine, and The Getty Center in Los Angeles. Ramón García is an associate professor in the Chicana/o Studies Department at the California State University at Northridge. He lives in downtown Los Angeles. |
