Leaving the Grid

Leaving the Grid ponders constraints and forms of freedom—how we approach them and choose the
roads we might best follow. It considers how to remove the boulders that block paths, find new routes, and redefine the things we need to make them more accessible. The book touches on memory, grief, the earth and its waters, and family. In expressing longings for things past and alternative ways forward, these poems express yearning for refilled aquifers in a cooler climate,
the lives of lost trees, the father who died young, and the daughter who left home and has yet to reappear. This is a book about the ability to see and create the most nourishing ways to be, about finding agency and hope. Leaving the Grid is
about where we want to be going and how we might get there.
